Winner at the first ever Indian Smirnoff International Fashion Awards (SIFA ’94), Tarana graduated in designing from SNDT, Bombay. An apprentice with some of the leading names from the world of Indian haute couture like Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla and Sangeeta Desai, she later joined MTV as a stylist for Malaika Arora. Not one to be satisfied with her accomplishments, Tarana decided to launch her label. Her first collection at ‘ensemble’ was a total sell out and ever since there has been no looking back for Tarana Rajpal.
Traipse down to Lions gate, Bombay, step into ‘ensemble’ and you will behold an ultra feminine and delicate collection. Artwork based ensembles elegantly embellished in either floral or geometric motifs taken from carpets, mughal paintings and architectures beckon you. These are the creations of Tarana Rajpal Masand.
A designer of women’s wear, Tarana believes in highlighting the personality of her clients on an individual level. She regards clothing as the wrapping paper of the human body that should be complimentary to its content. Her label “Tarana” represents the multifaceted lifestyle of the women of today who use her styles as platform to enhance and express their beauty and personality. Her style is distinctive-soft and sensuously appealing. “Fashion is after all, about look, feel and attitude”, says Tarana. Tarana designs Indian and Indo-western outfits for women. While weaves and textures are significant to her style, pure fabrics like georgettes, raw silk, and brocades are Tarana’s all-time favorites. Tarana’s signature is prominent in the feminine fit and flow of her silhouettes and the sensual chic of her ensembles. She retails from Ensemble Bombay and Delhi.
